Operation Vijay

Overview

Operation Vijay was the codename given to India’s military operation to evict Pakistani intruders from Indian territory during the 1999 Kargil conflict.

  • Conducted between May and July 1999.
  • Fought in the Kargil–Dras–Batalik sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Resulted in restoration of status quo along the Line of Control.
