Context: Nordic-India Summit 2026
PM Narendra Modi visited Norway for the first bilateral visit by an Indian PM in 43 years and is scheduled to attend the 3rd Nordic-India Summit in Oslo on 19 May 2026; during the visit, Norway conferred its highest civilian honour — Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit — on PM Modi, his 32nd international state honour.
