Context: Ebola PHEIC 2026
WHO declared the Ebola outbreak in DR Congo and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) after over 300 suspected cases and 88 deaths linked to the rare Bundibugyo strain of Ebola virus.
1. Ebola — Basics

- Natural host: Fruit bats.
- Spread through blood and other bodily fluids via direct contact.
- High fatality rate.
