Introduction
Mission POSHAN 2.0 is the Government of India’s flagship programme aimed at improving nutritional outcomes among women and children through an integrated, technology-driven and convergence-based approach.
It is implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and was launched on 1 April 2022 by merging and restructuring existing nutrition-related schemes.
The mission focuses on addressing malnutrition, stunting, wasting, underweight and anaemia while ensuring better delivery of nutrition services at the grassroots level.
Objectives

- Reduce stunting, wasting, undernutrition and anaemia
- Promote healthy dietary practices and behavioural change

Components of Mission POSHAN 2.0
The mission has two major components:
- Upgradation of Anganwadi Centres into modern, technology-enabled centres.
- Focus on better infrastructure, digital facilities and early childhood development.

Target Beneficiaries
The scheme covers:

POSHAN Tracker
The POSHAN Tracker is the digital platform supporting Mission POSHAN 2.0.
It enables:
- Digital registration of beneficiaries
- Real-time monitoring of nutrition services
- Growth monitoring of children
- Identification of malnourished children
- Data-driven planning and monitoring
- Improved transparency and accountability
Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi
Mission POSHAN 2.0 also integrates nutrition with early childhood education through the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi initiative.
Important frameworks include:
- Navchetana – Early childhood stimulation framework for children from birth to 3 years.
- Aadharshila – National curriculum for Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) for children aged 3–6 years.
The initiative promotes holistic physical, cognitive, emotional and social development during the formative years.
