Introduction
The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) is an independent business division under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), functioning under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It serves as the technical and programme management arm of the Government of India for implementing e-Governance and Digital India initiatives.
Established in 2009, NeGD was initially created to support the implementation of the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). Today, it plays a central role in designing, developing and managing key Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and digital governance platforms.

- National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) was launched in 2006 to improve the accessibility, efficiency and transparency of government services through Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- To provide technical expertise and project management support for NeGP, the Government established the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) in 2009.
