Supreme Court Judgment
In Re: Networking of Rivers (2012)
The Supreme Court urged the Union Government to pursue river interlinking in a time-bound manner and directed the constitution of a Special Committee for Interlinking of Rivers to facilitate coordination and implementation. However, the Court also recognised that implementation depends on environmental clearances, financial feasibility and the consent of the concerned States.
